'I LIKE IT.'
Strengths:
It's compact, inexpensive, very reliable and rugged. A good mate in and out of marinas and harbours. My sailing master thought it a bit weak at first but warmed to it over a couple of long trips. Its strength and clarity seemed to improve with use and stood up well to rough handling and exposure to the elements. Experiment to get the optimum strength versus squawk.
Weaknesses:
Possibly the range is restricted.
Overall:
A very handy VHF. Very good value.

'CANNOT USE THE EXTERNAL BATTERY PACK IN EMERGENCY'
Strengths:
Portable, so good for use in the cockpit and suitably rugged
Weaknesses:
Limited battery life and gives little indication of when it is about to run out. Then unable to switch on/off if battery pack is then connected. So cannot use in emergency.
Overall:
Unsatisfactory and does not meet the advertsining claims, in my view.
