'WOULD BE BETTER WITH KNOBS'
Strengths:
Good value for money and it just works! No problems so far after 18 months.
Weaknesses:
No knobs for adjusting volume and squelch.
Overall:
We have one on our boat and I bought it because it was good value for money, however having used it for some time I find the level settings for the volume and especial the squelch tricky to set in rough conditions! The knobs on the old set seemed a lot easier to deal with.

'AS YOU CAN PICK THEM UP FOR LESS THAN £100, A BARGIN.'
Strengths:
Size of the screen and the separation of the function controls between the front panel and the fist mike.
Weaknesses:
None that I have discovered yet.
Overall:
Having used a couple of different DSC-VHF in recent months the positioning of some of the controls on the fist mike seems a bit strange at first, but it separates the functions and allows for a bigger more legible screen than most.
Good bit of kit.

'EXCELLENT'
Strengths:
Clear display, easy to understand instructions, has the same capabilities as more expensive makes, superb clarity of sound and good volume loudness.
Weaknesses:
Does not state what size fuse should be used in the instructions, (apparently 8 amp, try locating one), the wiring details are not too clear, otherwise all OK.
Overall:
A great radio at a very competetive price, Silva give excellent back up usually via email although you can phone if you wish, I'me glad a bought one, highly recommended.
