'VERY GOOD UNIT'
Strengths:
Very well built ICOM unit, waterproof, slimmer and lighter than its cheaper relative (the M31), you can clip it into your lifejacket harness and you forget it is there until you need it, great battery life, dual watch which is useful even on a handheld.
Weaknesses:
Rotary on/off knob is small and cn to difficult to adjust when wearing gloves.
Overall:
A solid and well made unit that is lating me very well.

'ICOM - GOOD AS EVER'
Strengths:
I am not the best when it comes to electronic but I found this so easy.
Weaknesses:
Screen could maybe a little larger, but is quite okay.
Overall:
An excellent handheld marine radio, would not be afraid to use it in rain or spray. All functions are easily accessible and easy to use.

'EXCELLENT EQUIPMENT'
Strengths:
Perfect reliability!
The Li-ion batteries are VERY good.
Weaknesses:
None
Overall:
About 6 years ago I bought a cheap ( 100 E range) portable VHF, after a couple of years it was dead. The volume potentiometer was scratchy and the NiCad batteries dead. I bought a second one (still a cheap one) and again after a couple of years the same battery problems, etc. Two years ago I decided to buy an ICOM IC-M1 EURO (more than 300E, here in France at that time).I am now using it extensively (it is my only VHF) during 2x6 months navigations in the Med and it is still working PERFECTLY and AS NEW. I forgot what batteries and potentiometer and faulty contacts... mean.
