Description: This introduction to the 12-volt electrical systems used on small boats is written for boaters who are not skilled electricians. It explains how 12-volt systems work, how to maintain them in a good operating condition, how to recognize an electrical problem and how to troubleshoot that problem

Strengths: A well written and presented book that covers most things any sailor should know before going to sea. The contents include basic theory and well written but not over technical information on batteries, wiring and connections including cable sizing data, conrols, equipment, trouble shooting and problem solving. The book also contains lists of recommended tools, spare parts and UK suppliers of equipment.
Weaknesses: Could explain load analsys better and some illustrations are a little basic. Also by the nature of its title, it does not profess to fully cover shore power installation
Overall: I've yet to find a single book that covers the subject totally but I would recommend this book as a major part of your electrical library
