'well worth the money'
Strengths:
once your bateries are up to par maintains them without you having to worry about using battery power as it doubles as a power pack. reasonably clear instructions and easy to install if you have a bit of DIY experience and confidence to work with electricals!
this model can run up to 3 battery banks of up to 240AH
Weaknesses:
it comes with 1x 60amp fuse to use on the common negative line from the battery banks but I preferred to install it with a 4x 60amp fuse block, one for each positive connection to the batteries and one for the common negative return. in fairness it does suggest this in the instructions but it would be a nice touch to actually supply the 4 fuse block instead of a single. the battery temperature sensor could really do with expanding to cover all bateries instead of just one, I had a battery cook itself and guess what, the sensor was on the one next to it!
Overall:
the charger does require vetilation as if it has to work hard it can get warm. the batteries must also have plenty of ventilation to avoid a dangerous build up of hydrogen gas given of when charging. i have used this charger for over three months now and apart from the one battery cooking have had no problems. the battery was the last original from when i bought the boat and was probably at the end of its days anyway. one must remember to check the fluid levels regularly but that is about all you have to do to maintain the system.
I would recommend anyone with access to shore power to fit one of these charging systems
a, to keep you batteries in tip top condition and
b, the peace of mind knowing that when you need 12v power your batteries will be able to deliver.
just remember that you should have suitable anodes, galvanic isolators and proper 240v installation in place if you use shore power systems. 240vac is lethal not only to you but others nearby if not installed correctly and with all safety features in place
