'SIMPLE AND COST EFFECTIVE SAFETY AID.'
    Strengths:
Fold flat for easy stowage. Simple to assemble and hardwearing. Non-perishable.
    Weaknesses:
They don't come with a means of attachment for hoisting.
    Overall:
Essential safety signals to other vessels indicating your situation. "At anchor" ball signal, and "motor sailing cone" signal. To be hoisted to the fore of the vessel.

'ESSENTIAL SIGNALS NOT ALWAYS USED, BUT SHOULD BE!'
    Strengths:
Light, collapsible and stowable, non perishable.
    Weaknesses:
Being light plastic they will not take too much rough handling, but are strong enough.
    Overall:
These are signals that indicate to other sailors just what your vessel is doing; the ball should be hoisted at the fore part of the vessel to show that you are anchored, and what is not always realised is that a vessel motor sailing should hoist the cone to show she is using engine.
