Designed for wearing beneath drysuits, wetsuits or foul weather clothing, the new suits are said to provide total insulation in even the most hostile or extreme cold conditions, thanks to an innovative new material called Flectalon.
Containing fine reflective fibres, Flectalon is a lightweight, high performance material designed to reduce air movement and reflect thermal radiation. In other words, it has an extraordinary ability to reflect body heat back to the user. It will even retain its insulation qualities when wet, says SeaSafe. And it dries quickly, too!
Flectalon is claimed to be 100 per cent breathable as well as hardwearing, bacteria and fungus resistant, and to maintain its thermal integrity even after repeated washing.
The quilted undersuits are fleece lined for extra comfort, and features include elastic thumb and foot stirrups, hip pockets and two-way zippers.
They are available in men's and women's sizes, and there are also custom made options. You can choose from 100, 200 and 300 thermal options, according to how much protection from the cold you are going to need.
SeaSafe claims they are the warmest undersuits available today, and could change the way that professional mariners and leisure sailors alike insulate themselves from the cold.
The same revolutionary new material Flectalon is also being used by SeaSafe to make a rescue blanket, which will be particularly suitable for anyone suffering hypothermia, as a result of immersion in the sea.
With heavy duty lifting handles and integral straps the blanket also doubles up as a carry stretcher, yet will fold into a small pack for easy stowage.
SeaSafe has made its name supplying professional mariners - it is particularly known for the made to measure immersion jackets with built in life jackets worn by harbour pilots around the country - but is planning to move increasingly into the leisure market.
