B and G adds new features to Deckman software

Deckman display

As tends to be the way these days, most of the real innovations on display at the Southampton Boat Show are in the electronics field. B and G, for example, has used the show, which continues until Sunday September 24th, to unveil the latest version of its Deckman racing software.

Deckman is used by competitors at all levels, from short course round the buoys to long distance offshore and ocean racing, and V8 introduces a raft of new features and enhancements “aimed to ensure that Deckman remains the number one choice for serious navigators,” says the company.

Special attention has been paid to the start screen and new features include:

  • Toolbar for common functions, mark pinging and timer control
  • Start Grid function allowing easier visualisation of distances
  • Improved labelling and modified colour palette for on-deck screens
  • Compatibility with WTP and WTP2 processors
  • Increased NMEA connectivity
  • Support for C-Map MAX and EuroNav National Pack
  • Redesigned Timeplots with toolbox for calculation of averages and selection of data sets
  • Improved Route listing, with clearer indication of range, bearing and rounding directions
  • Speed Tests can now compare theoretical and actual performance by overlaying polar data
  • New icons to give clearer indication on deck screens

Deckman V8 also includes Grib file compatibility as standard (it was an optional extra on previous releases.) This means that services such as OCENS Weathernet are now essentially integrated. B and G says existing users need not miss out on the new features as a simple download can update any Deckman from V4 onwards up to the latest version.

To celebrate “50 years of developing the most advanced instruments and supporting the most successful yachtsmen,” B&G is offering huge discounts on its H1000 system at the Southampton Boat Show.

The price cuts are spread over five packages based on the H1000 core, and range from £470 to £1,350 off rrp, according to the package chosen.

The H1000 instrumentation system is designed with club racers and cruisers in mind, promising accuracy, reliability and ease of use. The 50 Year Anniversary Southampton Boat Show H1000 offer ends on October 8th.
