The Southampton Boat Show opens with a bang

Friday September 15th saw the start of the 38th Southampton Boat Show. The opening ceremony was performed by television personality Ben Fogle, solo yachtswoman Dee Caffari and record breaking yachtsman Alex Thomson. Aboard the Jubilee Trust's Lord Nelson, the pirate theme was upheld with scantily clad buccaneers scaling the rigging and a succession of cannon blasts - one of which very nearly knocked a seagull straight out of the sky!

Attractions at this year's Southampton Boat Show include a 249sqm beach where a whole host of live entertainment will span the event, and the opportunity to climb aboard a magnificent tall ship. Other features include the chance to have a go on a selection of powerboats, RIBs and yachts. And as if this wasn't enough how about trying you hand at working in a F1 pit-stop with the Honda Dream Zone?
