Launched only in January, The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) has announced that its new online service, www.berthsearch.com, is seeing huge success.
High hit rate
In the first five months of 2006, more than 12,000 visitors hit the site, registering a total of around 43,867 page views.
UK & Overseas
More than half of all visitors (56 per cent) were British based, followed by the US, Europe, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
BMF members too
A hugely good idea, the new berth search website allows members of the TYHA and the British Marine Federation (BMF) to list available berths on the site together with their web and email addresses. Visitors can then make direct contact with the marina of their choice.
Dedicated purpose
There are of course other search websites if you're looking for berths. But none as dedicated or well-organised, and none able to stop themselves from flogging you boats, package holidays or a few pallets of chandlery.
Simple to use
The berthsearch system works by simple click through from a pull-down menu to isolate country, inland or coastal preference, and required berth type. It's quick, very fast and user-friendly. The only thing missing is a picture or two, to give you a feel of the place you're looking for.
