Another ropey upgrade from Barton

Barton block
Barton's new Size 7 blocks are the largest their high-load cruiser range. From www.saltwaterpr.com.
They've done it again! Barton Marine, UK's top sail control hardware people, have upgraded their range of Size 7 blocks for yachts up to 50-feet.

The new blocks are the largest high load cruiser blocks in the Barton range, for controlling ropes of up to 14mm diameter, ideal for cruising or racing.

Rugged and tough, as you would expect them to be, these blocks have glass-filled nylon side plates with the load component carried by stainless steel. This makes them more efficient at handling high loads, with even more strength and security.

“We made them tougher because boats are getting larger, putting more demands on our blocks,” says Paul Botterill, Barton's rigging hotshot. “The same only better - and still at competitive prices.”

Still the same size too, so you don't need to change your own boat's spec. Examiner them closely and you'll see the difference. Through the whizz of technology, the block components are thicker and larger, increasing the safe working load 1,250kg to 1,500kg, and the break load from 2,500kg to 3,000kg.

Despite this, they are still lightweight and easy of use, especially on active water out there when it gets exciting. (Note that all sheaves should be evenly loaded as in a purchase tackle. Uneven loading, or loading of one sheave in a double or triple block, will severely affect the strength of the block.)

The new blocks start at £16.82 including VAT, spearheading enhancements to Barton yacht fittings across the board.
