Avon inboard to debut at London Show | | | |
Avon Inflatables are to launch the exciting Seasport De Luxe RIB to the European market at the 2006 London Boat Show. The new 490 De Luxe is the only boat in the Seasport range to be fitted with an inboard diesel engine.

The 490's in-line Volvo 2,400cc 5-cylinder D3 diesel inboard engine reaches speeds of up to 37 knots (68.5km/h) with very low emissions - achieved by common rail injection system, four valves per cylinder and Electronic Vessel Control (EVC). The EVC manages all on-board equipment, including the engine, controls and transmission, warning immediately of any unusual situation. In such an alert, the EVC reduces engine power, continuing to operate in safety.
The boat itself oozes character, with a sporty appearance that cannot fail to impress. It's ritzy too - and comfortable. The white upholstery is triple thickness to resist weather and the close fitting seats provide full support for an at-ease driving position. Controls on the dual console are within easy reach, with space to add new ones later. Fuel capacity is 120 litres, allowing a range of up to 7 hours cruising.

Attracted by the Honda 4 stroke though not sure can get service here. does anyone have any thoughts on this versus say the Mariner 2.5 which seems to be featured in packages? Also, confused about the fabric for inflatables. Had an old Avon but it seems to be constantly leaking and repairers do not do a good job here. Real problem with UV light here and barnacle coated rocks so need sturdiest can get. Am told that Hypalon is now less used but that the plastic now used is less durable? A friend bought a Tinker but it's so thin skinned it lasted a very short time ! Any suggestions very welcome: the biggest that is sensible to carry in a cockpit locker - poss. 8-9 ... |
