When it comes to footwear afloat, it seems we're pretty much divided between those who like traditional looking deck shoes, and those who prefer high tech trainer-inspired styles.
Helly Hansen has catered for both camps with its 2008 watersports footwear collection, which promises “a new level of comfort and performance.” The new range is said to be designed both for active use on the water and stylish relaxing on the shore.
For trainer fans, the Hydro Power II super light shoe is quick drying with breathable Lifa mesh panels to ensure feet stay dry and comfortable by moving moisture away from the foot to the outside of the shoe, where the water is dispersed through perforated release pockets in the outsole and midsole to speed up the drying, says Helly.
Helly Hansen's Ultra Storm Grip on the outsole provides grip and slip resistance. Hydro Power is available in white/light grey/navy/red, honey/ebony and navy/light grey for men, aloe/sand/gum and white/light grey/navy/light blue for women and unisex colours penguin/steel/ebony. It costs £60.
The Hydro Classic offers the same high performance technology, protection and comfort in a traditional deck shoe style. This stylish shoe also incorporates strategically placed cushioning material to “absorb the shock to protect the whole body from high impact action.”
Hydro Classic is available in taupe grey/khaki/white gum and navy/taupe grey/gum for men, sand for women and unisex colour walnut/taupe grey/gum, it costs £70.
