Congratulations to Scotty, alias JR, who has won the star prize of a pair of top of the range Dubarry Fastnet boots - retailing at £180, found in our TMS gear review to be warm, grippy and good-looking too, everything you could want from sailing boots - in our user review competition for the final quarter of 2007.
Scotty, who is also a prolific contributor to our forum, wrote no less than four reviews, more than anyone else. They covered a SeaGo lifejacket, Musto's HPX Ocean trousers and jacket, and the Honda four-stroke BF 2.3 hp outboard motor.
We thought the outboard review, in particular, was full of useful information and observations that would help other TMS readers when choosing a new outboard. So thank you, Scotty, for your support - and enjoy those great Dubarry Goretex boots!
If you didn't win this time, don't worry, there will be plenty more exciting prizes up for grabs in 2008, so watch out for details, and keep those reviews coming! All reviews posted since January 1 automatically go forward into our next user review competition.
We want to know about your sailing gear: what did you think about it? Would you recommend others to buy items you use, or have you got something that has been unsatisfactory? We would love to know.
At TMS we aim to supply impartial information on sailing products to help you in making your purchasing decisions. But why listen to what we have to say when you can tell us yourselves?
There are prizes for the writers of the most informative review(s). You can enter as many times as you like.
How to write a user review
Click on the User Review tab at the top of the page and you will come to the list of categories. Click on the one appropriate for the item you want to review.
Once you arrive on either the Category or Brand you will see a selection of five products, with the option to view more. The "view all" option will show you all the products in that section. Alternatively you can type the product details into one of the search menus.
Once you have clicked on to the product you will be taken to the product page where you will be given the option to write a review. You will need to sum up the item in a nutshell, assessing its strengths, its weaknesses and how it performs overall.
You are then asked to rate it on performance, reliability and value.
You can only write one user review per product, but you can review as many different products as you like.
Visit our User Review section to get started.
