Here's a taste of sunshine to brighten up a grey January day: Marina Preko, near Zadar, Croatia, is due to open in March.
This new development on the Island of Ugljanu will be a big attraction for the increasing number of cruising yachts moving to Croatia to enjoy some of the best cruising waters in the world, say the developers.
“Right in the middle of the stunningly beautiful Dalmatian coast, Marina preko provides the delights of an island, yet has easy access to other anchorages in waters sheltered by the other islands, providing a wonderful location for island hopping.”
With secure berths surrounded by modern facilities, the new marina has 87 berths up to 20m, and visitors' berths for superyachts up to 60m.
As well as all the expected facilities on site, there are bars and restaurants nearby and shops, including a regular fruit and vegetable market, within 50m of the marina.
The marina is a short ferry ride from the mainland port of Zadar, two and a half miles across the water, where there is an airport. It is also within easy cruising distance of Italy's Adriatic coastline.
“Experienced yachtsmen describe Preko as the jewel in the crown of the beautiful Dalmatian waters and endorese that throughout the islands of the Karnati national park, it offers some of the best sailing to be found anywhere in the world,” says the press release.
“Cruising the Dalmatian coast has to be the experience of a lifetime, with its breathtaking scenery and crystal clear water.”
