Acceleration and safety are the themes behind the Spring/Summer 2006 collection of sports footwear from Helly Hansen, which includes the iconic Hydro Power, a high performance, all purpose water sports shoe for warmer weather conditions.
Gone are the days of the stereotypical leather deck shoe so synonymous with sailors and Cowes High Street- Helly Hansen tells us that they have utilised the fabric technology from their clothing range and applied it to the footwear collection. The result is functional, lightweight footwear that not only dries quickly, but dries without becoming so rigid you need a hammer and chisel to get them off.
And as if having dry deckies to put on each morning wasn't enough, Helly Hansen have incorporated their dry fibre technology to rapidly move moisture away from the feet to keep them cool and dry all day - just so long as it's a flat calm, that is.
Helly Hansen also claim to have improved the Hydro Power's non-marking storm grip sole, providing even greater grip on wet, slippery surfaces; an anatomically aligned inner sock with an anti-bacterial covering to help absorb odours; a fully removable machine washable midsole; and speed laces.
The sleek design of Hydro Power is enhanced by the stable, sneaker-like construction with supportive skeletal frame, which gives extra support to the foot when you're chasing around the deck.
Hydro Power is available in white/light grey/navy and orange peel/charcoal for men and in white/lagoon for women - each featuring 3M reflective details. Hydro Power retails at £60.
