Every month on TheMainSail we give away a large scale canvas of the best sailing photo to appear in the gallery and now's the time to announce September's competition winner.
Now that boats are starting to come out of the water and the winter maintenance work begins, it's more important than ever to have some sailing photos to look at for inspiration, to make the cost of antifoul and the effort of hoisting someone up the mast feel worthwhile.
As ever, there've been some stunning sunsets, sunrises, and quiet days on the water in the gallery over the past four weeks to provide that inspiration - not to mention some wild and windy days as well. Unfortunately there can only be one winner though.
So, the picture that has amassed the largest number of votes of the last month is this shot taken by Glyn Wild:

East Coast, by Glyn Wild
As one MainSail member commented in the forum:
"You can hear the silence!
"I used to have a job which found me on the reaches of the Upper Thames in the very early hours every day and it reminds me of the 'still beauty' that is about that most people never experience."
Join the forum thread to add your thoughts about the stillness that the picture conjures up, or to debate the technical composition of the photo. Several schools of thought are sharing their opinions there!
Glyn wins a 30cm x 40cm canvas of his photo, courtesy of boatArt.co.uk, and for everyone else, remember that we give away a boatArt canvas every month. Uploading a picture to the site has recently become much quicker and easier so add yours here to take part in September's competition, or have a look at the best photos this summer, featured in our latest fit of virtual cruising, to get some inspiration.
Good luck!
