Simrad Yachting is launching a flexible new handheld VHF radio at METS 2005. The HT53 is based on the rugged HT51 handheld, which alongside the powerful Simrad Axis GMDSS radios, is favoured by many of the world's rescue organisations.
The HT53 is designed for users who prefer or need to communicate using a handheld microphone, headset or lapel mic. The addition of a chrome plated, brass accessories connector, and chosen following consultation with a major rescue organisation makes the HT53 a flexible option. It is ideal for a helmet comms set-up and the accessories connector can also be used to connect an external speaker.
Compact and economical, the HT53 is designed to withstand the intensive daily use that a handheld VHF gets at sea. Rated as submersible, it can be used in all conditions and exposed to the elements without fear of failure. Operation is the same as the HT51 making the HT53 a very user-friendly radio.
As with all Simrad Yachting radios, the quality components and core design aspects provide extremely high power, range and quality of reception. Additionally a strong resistance to interference means that communication via the HT53 is always loud and clear.
The HT53 features 54 international channels, plus up to 16 additional channels used for particular country requirements and for commercial users. With dual and tri-watch, as well as all channel scan and memory scan (where permitted), it also has a powerful ability to monitor the airwaves.
