The Lagoon 500 luxury catamaran is being shown in the UK for the first time at the Southampton Boat Show (September 14th to 23rd) by Ancasta, Europe's largest boat sales network.
From the drawing board of the Peteghem-Prevost design team, the 51 foot 500 is described as a high performance thoroughbred designed for effortless ocean cruising.
Three versions are available - a three cabin version, which has one vast hull dedicated to the owner and two guest cabins in the other, a model with four en-suite cabins, or a charter version with five cabins. Each cabin has a large one-way window providing natural light and privacy, semi-island berths and en-suite heads.
The main saloon, located on the bridge deck between the hulls, is open and airy with a centre table large enough to seat 10 in comfort. A good-size galley boasts a large oven and grill, a fridge / freezer, plus a dishwasher and space for an additional fridge / freezer or washing machine. There's a dedicated locker which can accommodate an optional generator or air compressor.
The navigation station in the main saloon contains a full set of steering and engine controls as well as ample space for charts and electronics. Large windows in the saloon give panoramic views while dining indoors. There is also a large aft cockpit with ample space for dining outside.
The sleek lines of the 500 are enhanced by flush deck hatches also said to give improved safety. There is space for six at the flybridge steering position where all lines are easily available and there is a forward cockpit with face-to-face seating.
The Lagoon 500 is described as fast, stable and responsive, easy to handle and to move around with wide catwalks unhampered by hardware. Clearly the design has appeal: the builders say that more than 100 orders have already been placed.
