Around Britain for the RNLI

---DESCRIPTION---Steve Cooksey from Cornwall will set sail on July 1st to circumnavigate Britain anti-clockwise in aid of the RNLI. Along with a group of colleagues and his Westerly GK29 yacht "Gamaldansk", he will leave his home marina, in Fowey, and spend the next six weeks aboard. If all goes to plan, the team will have completed the 1800 mile challenge and be back at their starting point in time for the Fowey August regatta.

Steve has two main goals for the trip: "I want to raise some serious money for the RNLI! I also want to have an adventure and to share it with my friends."

The funds will go to the RNLI's 'Train one, save many' campaign, as Steve says "I know a couple of the volunteer crew at Fowey and really admire their dedication and bravery. I'm always amazed that the RNLI is supported only by public donation as it's such an important service."

If you would like to help out by donating some money to an organisation that helps ensure the safety of everyone at sea, Steve has set up a website specially for the purpose. Visit www.soundsailing.co.uk to contribute online and read more about Gamaldansk's anti-clockwise venture!

Steve has been sailing since the age of seven - initially in a home made Mirror dinghy with his dad, and more recently in his own cruising boat. He now works as a freelance sound engineer,b ut he'll be leaving all that behind him over the summer as he makes his way around the British coast.

We wish him all the best with the venture!
