With boats getting ever bigger, communication between crew members can become a problem. One solution might be Standard Horizon's new loud hailer, the VLH-3000, said to include “all the necessary bells, whistles, foghorns and sirens” - including four foghorn options.
It includes two 30-watt PA outputs, giving the option of one PA being connected forward and one aft. They can transmit separately or simultaneously. There are two intercom connections, with the ability to toggle between them.
The 14-key layout allows any of the available functions to be selected at the press of a button - for instance, switching from PA mode to Fog mode takes one single movement.
The VLH-3000 does not require external speakers, but Standard Horizon does manufacture a range, along with PA horns, from £30 including VAT.
The loud hailer comes complete with a three-year waterproof warranty and a mounting bracket, or there is an optional installation kit for flush mounting it into a bulkhead. The VLH-3000 retails at £219 including VAT.
