Marine Electronic Services Ltd (MES) has introduced a new, affordable fixed mount DSC VHF radio manufactured exclusively for them by Uniden.
The President MC8000 is a full function Class D DSC, waterproofed to IPX7 and featuring all the normal VHF functions, such as triple watch, channel scanning, ATIS (for inland waterway operation) and 25W power output.
It also has a hailer/public address function that allows an optional external hailing speaker to be connected for PA communication to other boats or crew on deck.
The President MC8000 has a large 40mm x 26mm LCD display that will also repeat GPS latitude and longitude information when interfaced with a suitable device.
In addition, the microphone features a keyboard that is useful for quick entry of DSC messages or for channel change. MES is selling this product at just £119.95 including VAT.
