If you're female and bored with the “butch” look of so much unisex sailing gear, you'll like the idea of the latest deck shoe styles from Dubarry of Ireland, Seychelles and Aruba.
Bright, colourful and stylish, they make a fashion statement while remaining comfortable and practical for wear on board.
The Seychelles is a two-eye tie deck shoe, while Aruba gives a new twist to the traditional slip-on ladies' deck shoe with its stylish tasselled knot.
Both styles are available in fetching new colourways - from lavender and sky blue through to traditional navy, brown and coffee coloured leather. Comfort has been created by the use of specially treated super-soft leathers and nubuck, as well as technological design details including a hidden cushioned heel cup and leather insock.
The nubuck and leather used in these styles has been tanned with Dubarry's Dry Fast-Dry Soft leather, which absorbs less water even when fully immersed, and dryies quickly to maintain their softness.
While good looks are important, when up against the elements good grip is essential, and the outsoles feature Dubarry's renowned Non-Slip Non-Marking outsole. This features a series of interconnecting channels that disperse water from the point of impact to ensure good grip at all times.
For extra comfort, which is vital when deck shoes are used onshore as well as on a boat, a lightweight flexible EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) midsole gives good shock absorbency, enhanced with extra cushioning in the heel area.
The hand-stitched roll-top moccasin front ensures water droplets are kept out of the shoes. Design details include the distinctive Dubarry port and starboard flash, rust-proof branded eyelets, and discreet Dubarry emblem.
Seychelles and Aruba are both available in Navy and Espresso leather, and in Stone, Sky Blue, Lavender, Navy and Coffee nubuck. Both styles are available in European sizes 35-42.
