Competitors in this year's JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, which takes place on June 23rd, will have the opportunity to receive free emails and SMS texts containing useful weather and tidal information in the run up to the race, thanks to race partner Raymarine.
The annual race attracts some 1,600 boats making it the third largest participation sports event in the UK.
Renowned marine meteorologist Chris Tibbs will be providing daily weather briefings from June 20th, enabling crews to see the developing weather patterns up to the start of the race.
Chris will also present a full and detailed weather briefing at the Island Sailing Club at 5pm on June 22nd for competitors, race officers and safety boat crews.
He will use Raymarine's award-winning RayTech RNS 6.0 navigation software to demonstrate the weather forecast for the following day, complete with the progression of tides, currents, wind speed and direction for the Isle of Wight and surrounding waters.
