Zodiac puts SHARC Duotex on RIBs

Zodiac International is introducing a new fabric to all of their tenders over six meters (19.68 feet).

Said to maintain its appearance for longer, SHARC Duotex has a polyurethane coating which is recommended for bigger inflatable boats which are required to withstand a powerful engine and are exposed to mooring all year round.

The new fabric is said to reduce the signs of aging by protecting against ultraviolet rays, ozone and the cold. It is constructed using a polyester rot-proof, “panama”-type textile backing, making it very robust.

Zodiac claims the fabric also has improved ability to retain pressure. Depending on temperature and conditions it is said that SHARC Duotex no longer needs to be topped up with every use as it can retain its pressure for several days. This is thanks to the thermobonding soldering process used to seal the seams. All boats come with a five-year warranty.

As well as qualities, the fabric also has a new feel. It is said to be pleasant to touch, with “sharkskin feel.” This makes it easy to clean - simply wipe with a sponge -as well as being resistant to solvents, oils and hydrocarbons. When filling up with petrol, moored in port surrounded by dirty water, this feature could prove very useful.

For more information of the new SHARC Duotex fabric or any of the Zodiac products, visit www.zodiacmarine.com.
