Ready for the start of the sailing season, Gill has launched a revamp of its Ocean range. The new Ocean Racer jacket, trousers and smock have kept all the popular features, along with a whole host of improvements according to the manufacturer.
The Ocean Racer Jacket is designed from a 5 Dot 3-layer breathable waterproof fabric with fully taped seams and water-resistant zips. The hood and collar area has been re-designed to include a fleece lined collar and more dynamic styling, and is said to improve comfort and practicality. When stowed away, the hood system is far neater and less bulky than before, with the hood now sitting on the outside of the collar when stowed.
Other notable features include the moulded wrist tabs, said to be more flexible and easier to adjust. Gill has also taken the step of altering the positioning of some of the high-visibility Reflexite reflectives. One remains on the front storm flap, just below the neck, whilst the wrist reflectors have now moved to the underside, which is the best position if waving to attract attention.
The positioning of the handwarmer pockets has been improved, as has their volume. There's also Kevlar reinforcement on the sleeves and seat area for high abrasion resistance.
The Ocean Racer Smock is based along the same specifications, but also boasts additional latex neck and wrist seals. Ocean Racer Trousers complete the line-up. Designed for both comfort and protection, they are made from the same breathable, waterproof fabric as the Jacket and Smock, again with Kevlar reinforcement in high wear areas. They also feature a high-fit back for added protection, deep thigh pocket and an easy-access multi-tool pouch.
The OC Racer Jacket will be retailing for £350 and will be available in either Silver Grey/Black or Red/Silver Grey. The OC Racer Smock, at £400, will only be available in Silver Grey/Black. The OC Racer Trousers come in black and will retail for £250.
