OverBoard dry tube and dry flat bag

Over-Board dry tube Having a dry set of clothes to put on after a hard day's sailing is one of life's little pleasures. But if the inside of your boat doesn't stay much dryer than the outside, having some waterproof storage is essential. And what could be better suited to the task than an Over-Board dry bag?

OverBoard dry tube

Constructed of 420D nylon-coated tarpaulin with electronically welded seams, the 20 litre bag (height 40cm, diameter 37cm, circumference 74cm) has ample room for a weekend's sailing. It is very durable and easy to care for, only requiring a quick wipe for cleaning. The Over-Board dry tube is a Class 2 product, which means it's 100% waterproof and can handle a quick submersion if closed correctly. Another useful feature is that it will float if dropped in the water making it very easy to retrieve.

The Fold Seal system is similar to other products of this type, simple yet effective. All you have to do is roll the neck of the bag down tightly over the plastic fastener and attach the buckles to lock. This loop also doubles up as a handle. It was slightly tough the first time I tried this due to the stiffness of the fabric, but after a couple of attempts I had it mastered.

The OverBoard dry tube is available in a range of sizes from 5 - 40 litres, in a choice of either red or yellow fabric. The 20 litre dry tube comes with an additional shoulder strap and is available for £19.99.

Verdict

A hard wearing dry bag at a good price, though it takes a little while for it to become malleable enough to seal it quickly. Very durable and can withstand rough situations well.

Waterproof Dry Flat Bag Waterproof Dry Flat Bag

If you are looking for something a little less bulky and more easily stowed, the OverBoard waterproof dry flat bag may be more suited to your needs. Made of 'super-light' nylon ripstop-TPU coated material it can fold down small enough to fit in your pocket but can still hold plenty of kit when filled. Its capacity is 15 litres (height 35cm, width 37cm).

Again it is a Class 2 product and uses the Fold Seal fastening system, not only protecting its contents from moisture, but also from sand, mud, etc. Like the dry tube, the OverBoard dry flat bag floats when dropped in water.

Available in three different sizes, 5, 15 or 30 litres, it comes with a removable shoulder strap. The 15 litre version retails at £17.49.

Verdict

It folds down so small that it's ideal for keeping in your pcket for an emergency. Well suited to slinging your wet clothes into so you don't leave a puddle after a day on the waves. For more information on OverBoard product, visit www.over-board.co.uk.
