Musto gives traditional favourite a new twist

Musto sou'wester

I know I'm not the only person who hates wearing a hood on the water because of the way it restricts both your movement and your peripheral vision. The traditional sou'wester was much more user-friendly. It let you see out, kept the water out of your eyes and stopped it running down the back of your neck. But it had one major snag. It didn't keep you warm.

Musto has solved this problem with its Breathable Sou'wester, made from a new, high tech breathable fabric, with all the advantages that brings. It is waterproof - with taped seams to make sure that rain and spray don't get in - but at the same time perspiration can escape, so there is none of the cold, clammy feel of the old-fashioned oilskin sou'wester.

Fully lined, and featuring ear flaps and draw cord, this hat should please sailing types with traditional tastes - or anyone who wants to keep their head and ears warm without being blinkered by a hood! Available in dark blue or red, and small, medium and large sizes, at £14.95, it should earn the gift-giver plenty of gratitude!

Blue? Red? What happened to yellow?

Dull dull colours from Musto and I'm surprised - you're not going to wear one of these in good visibility, after all, so it might be an idea to (a) see where people are and (b) see where your hat is when you need it.
Otherwise, I'd buy one tomorrow.
