The RNLI is inviting everyone to have a taste of crew training at the London Boat Show in ExCeL (January 5th to 14th).
Visitors can explore the 'crew room', watch and take part in demos about first aid, GPS navigation and lifejackets, or get useful advice on personal sea safety from friendly experts who can answer all your sea safety questions.
RNLI gifts will also be on sale and visitors will be able to watch the RNLI in action on plasma screens.
Also on the main stand (N226) will be a real RNLI Atlantic 75 lifeboat, the Toshiba Wave Warrior which since its naming at the London Boat Show in 1998 has been involved in saving 19 lives and in the training of more than 300 volunteer lifeboat crew.
Outside in the dock, an RNLI Severn Class all weather lifeboat will be moored at Berth 25 where volunteer lifeboat crew members will also be ready to speak to visitors about their lifesaving work.
A D class inshore lifeboat will be on display in the Boulevard as part of the 'Jargon Free Boating' area where people are invited to leave their messages of thanks to volunteer lifeboat crews.
Linda Vatcher, RNLI Exhibitions Manager, says: 'Thanks to the support of National Boat Shows, we have got another strong presence at ExCeL this year and look forward to seeing our supporters. It's only thanks to them and our amazing volunteers that the RNLI can continue to save lives at sea.'
