Floating sunspecs are a racing certainty

Gill's Pro-Racing Goggles

Click on present to reveal

If you have ever lost your sunglasses over the side and watched them sink rapidly out of sight you will appreciate Douglas Gill's latest floating sunglasses.

There is a whole range of sporty looking styles, from the simply smart to the seriously posy. But if eye protection rather than looking cool is your priority (and maybe if it is the other way round…) the top of the range Pro-Racing Goggles could be the model to go for.

Floatable if dropped, they come with three pairs of interchangeable Polaroid lenses: dark to keep out the glare of the sun, yellow for enhanced vision in poor visibility or at night, and clear for changeable conditions.

The wrap around design is claimed to stay put in even the most demanding conditions, with venting channels to prevent misting and “wave” foam for added comfort when worn for long periods.

They even come with a hard case to store the spare lenses and stop the sunnies getting squashed in your sailing bag. But they do cost £50. If you're looking for a cheaper stocking filler, other designs in the range, still floatable and Polaroid, are much more affordable.
