There are warnings of gales in Viking, North Utsire, South Utsire, Forties, Cromarty, Forth, Tyne, Dogger, Fisher, German Bight, Humber, Thames, Dover, Wight, Portland, Plymouth, Biscay, FitzRoy, Sole, Irish Sea, Shannon, Rockall, Malin, Hebrides, Bailey, Fair Isle, Faeroes, South-east Iceland.

The general synopsis at midnight

Deep low just west of Bailey 952 expected Fair Isle 957 by midnight tonight.

The area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Viking North Utsire
South veering southwest gale 8 to storm 10, decreasing 6 or 7 for a time. Occasional rain. Moderate or good.

South Utsire Forties Cromarty Forth
South or southwest 7 to severe gale 9, decreasing 6 or 7 for a time. Occasional rain. Moderate or good.

Tyne
Southwest 6 to gale 8. Showers. Good.

Dogger Fisher
South or southwest 7 to severe gale 9, decreasing 5 or 6 for a time. Rain then showers. Moderate becoming good.

German Bight Humber Thames Dover Wight Portland Plymouth
South or southwest 7 to severe gale 9, veering west 5 to 7. Rain then showers. Moderate then good.

Biscay FitzRoy
Southwesterly veering westerly 6 to gale 8, but 5 in far south FitzRoy. Occasional rain. Moderate or good.

Sole Lundy Fastnet
West 5 to 7, occasionally gale 8 at first in Sole, perhaps gale 8 later in Fastnet. Showers. Good.

Irish Sea Shannon
West 6 to gale 8. Showers. Good.

Rockall
Westerly veering northwesterly gale 8 to storm 10, occasionally violent storm 11 in north. Squally showers. Moderate or poor.

Malin
West gale 8 to storm 10. Squally showers. Moderate or poor.

Hebrides
Southwest veering northwest gale 8 to storm 10, occasionally violent storm 11 for a time. Rain or squally showers. Moderate or poor.

Bailey
Cyclonic becoming northwesterly severe gale 9 to violent storm 11, occasionally hurricane force 12 in south, decreasing 7 to severe gale 9 later. Rain or squally showers. Moderate or poor.

Fair Isle
Southwesterly becoming cyclonic gale 8 to storm 10, occasionally violent storm 11 in southwest. Occasional rain. Mainly moderate.

Faeroes
Cyclonic 7 to severe gale 9, occasionally storm 10. Rain. Moderate or poor.

Southeast Iceland
East backing north gale 8 to storm 10, occasionally violent storm 11. Rain. Moderate or poor.
