Broadblue announces 415

Broadblue 415 Broadblue Catamarans, the UK's leading catamaran manufacturer, has announced its first new design for 2007, the Broadblue 415.

Positioned squarely between the company's highly acclaimed Broadblue 385 and the Broadblue 435 the company says the yacht has tried and tested sea keeping performance.

Featuring the same design and build standards as her sister yachts, the Broadblue 415 is based on the proven 435 model at a considerable cost saving.

The 415 will offer more accommodation than the Broadblue 385 and less complexity than the luxurious 435. This “perfect combination of power, space and affordability” is priced at £219,995 ex VAT .

Broadblue has selected the Ossa Powerlite propulsion system as an option for its forthcoming range of boats and the 415 will be the first to be available with this diesel electric drive system.

The company says that while other electric motor drives are available, the Ossa Powerlite offers a host of advantages such as providing a generator without added cost, sufficient to run a full DC/AC system including air conditioning.

The small, Mercedes Smart Car engine drives a 25KW 240VDC generator which then drives two 35hp water cooled electric motors, thereby not relying on batteries. This system is capable of running constantly at near half the fuel cost of standard engines and offers even better performance, says Broadblue: “It is a whisper quiet, highly cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to diesel engines.”

The Broadblue 415 is described as “ a stunning, high volume cruiser with outstanding sea keeping qualities and the capability of making fast and safe passages.” The accommodation promises to be spacious and comfortable with the choice of two layouts.

The owner's version has a fully enclosed hull for totally private accommodation. The alternative is a practical 4 cabin 4 head layout which is said to be ideal for the larger family, or for charter boats. This version can also include two additional single berths forward to give up to 10 berths.

To mark the launch, Broadblue has announced a special offer price of £209,995 ex vat for the first two boats sold.
