Is the WSL a race series too far - or just what the sport needs to attract more interest and support? Please tell us what you think.

If you have watched the Aussie rule Skiff sailing series it certainly is good television, Not sure they need to go to cats and expense to achieve same. Whats wrong with high performance skiffs?
Can't beat it for exciting sailing.
It would be good to have a UK team competing against the aussies.

Great idea....bring it on....the same nervousness surrounded the introduction of 20/20 Cricket and that has really taken off!!

Whilst high level racing in large yachts has spin-off by way of gear development for the rest of us, I'm afraid this sport does little for me. It is very expensive and exclusive, far removed from the sailing most of us do or aspire to, and unfortunately re-inforces the image (in the media, by marina owners, suppliers of gear, and the Crown estates commissioners) that we are all wealthy and that sailing is for the rich - just ripe for picking!

I have to agree with Neil...does little for me, expensive and exclusive. Television sport should include more yachting activities but something with more immediacy - high performance skiffs and smaller multis would be a good start.

It seems a lot of us agree that 70 ft cats are not the way to inspire people to get out there. If you want short, exciting racing for TV, there are lots of brilliant, relatively affordable sports boats that would provide all the excitement and spectacle needed, and realistically encourage more young (and not so young, for that matter) people to have a go themselves.
