Does anyone have experience of the RR Electronics combi antennae? These seem like an ideal (if expensive) solution to support VHF/AM/FM/AIS/TV/Navtex etc however a sailing pal has said that reception can be compromised and separates are now his preference.

Anyone have any good or bad experiences with the combis?

I agree with your pal Rob although you could pick most of it up on a bent coat hanger, after a fashion.

Any receiving system is only as good as the the signal being transmitted and your ability to pick up that signal. Ariels are designed for a purpose and only work well for that single purpose. They are designed and tuned to pick up specific signal types (ie AM or FM) and at specific frequency band widths.

Why do you think you need different ariels at home for your TV and your FM tuner?
