Can anyone suggest a pair of gloves that are wind and waterproof, but you can also grip ropes with. Previously I have used ski gloves, but they are just too bulky. Some of the dinghy gloves are really good for pulling rigging with, but have no protection from the elements.
I notice Gill have bought out a new one that is similar to their helmsman’s pair, but with a different grip area, but they are £45 and are very big. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has used them.

Gloves??? I thought you girl crews were supposed to be really tough?

But don't want to break a nail!
In this cold weather, I need gloves for my poor little hands. I don't mind the rope burn so much as the freezing cold!

My my Roxy, you sound like Puccini's Mime! Your tiny hands are frozen...

I bought an excellent pair of gloves for my Antarctica trip, they are called Extremities. I got them from an outdoor and climbing specialities shop in Covent Garden area, near Jubilee market, corner of Tavistock St/Maiden Lane. They have a variety of cold weather equiptment, but I suppose do Ocean Leisure and other chandlers.

 PS for Mime read Mimi.

 How about so motorbike gloves?
Not used them myself but someone recommemned them for skiing as cheaper and not as bulky.
We use 'Sealskin' gloves - not sure who supplies them - they re not bad but aren't waterproof.

Princess Roxy need to be warm! I have tried motocycle and ski glives before and though they keep me warm, it is very hard to do and undo knots etc. Cycling gloves are better, but have no warmth.
Maybe I should be asking how I can put fat on my hands (With out it also spreading to my hips and thighs) so that I have a layer of fat to keep me toasty!

Lots of bacon sandwiches, and lots of cycling.
|
 |
hmmm.... maybe I type too much on the forum and that are why my hands get cold as I burn off all the fat

What you need then is a speech activated Word Processor. Talk to the boss.

Not a chance! They are as tight as anything!

Well working on holding the pencil in my mouth technique and typing one key at a time, though this isn't a very fast method!

I usually use ski gloves as well, but I came across this website today:
http://www.sealskinz.com/
They seem to specialise in breathable and waterproof gloves and socks. I've never tried any of their products though. Does anyone know if they're any good?

Had a look on the site and would be interseted to look at some of the stuff. Will probably try and find a local stockit so I can have a look at them before I buy.
Cheers for the advice though.

Yes they re the ones we use but can assure you that mine aren't waterproof!
Also I ve had this pair for about 6 months and have already developed a couple of holes... but they are used most days. Think the rest of the crew have had their a bit longer without problems - maybe I work too hard!
