I have to disagree. Each time (three times) we have bought a yacht I have felt miserable and apprehensive on the day we signed the cheque. (is this a sensible use of money? Can we afford to run it? Will we be able to handle it? Is it all a ghastly mistake? etc). Then I have felt desperately sad on the day we have sold (twice) - really feeling we were losing a member of the family. So by definition there must have been some extremely happy times is between!

But yes, the bills/maintenance etc can get a bit daunting. You just have to remind yourself of the wonderful moments - and, however fleeting, they do occur in every season - when things are going so right that you think: "I don't care what it costs: it's worth it, just for this!"
