You can now sign an e-petition against Kent County Council's proposed fixed bridge, which would block off the creek from sailing boats, at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/miltoncreek/

Hi Tony. I am delighted to support that. Keep up the fight!

Best of luck-although I live no where near have seen this happen in past-Eg.Loch Long nr.Eilean Donan Castle-crossed by ferry until after the war;then a bridge with lifting section right up to 1980s;and now a low level bridge stopping access up a beautiful and remote glen.

Up here though by the 1990s things changed and when the A9 was built across the Dornoch Firth and Loch Fleet in Sutherland-both bridges arch over giving clearance at least to small sailing vessels despite there being almost zero use of these waters by sailing boats.

Good luck I have signed

I am sad that we are gradually losing access to the little creeks and anchorages as these are so vital to enjoying the magic of cruising and enjoying the east coast.  We should do all we can to preserve our yachting heritage.    It would be a sad day if there is no one to remember,  a quiet night at anchor in a secluded creek, the tranquility and solitude of the early misty morning sunrise with jsut the sounds of lapping of water and wild birds........
