The Boat Safety Certificate insists on its own examiners-I had just had a survey done on the boat but as the surveyor wasnt authorised he was unable to complete certificate.
Certificate is primarily for inland waterways but includes the Caledonian and Crinan Canal in Scotland;Glasson Basin on Lancaster Canal and probably some other British Waterways controled navigations-you cannot leave any vessel on one of these canals for more than 4 wks.without certificate.
As result examiners tend to be boat hire cos. Marinas ,etc.
Certificate is based on current European standards for construction/use.
Despite my marine surveyor giving my boat a class two-500 ml. offshore reccomendation it failed its boat safety certificate.
