Having recenty purchased a Prout Snowgoose 34 for a price that reflected a problem with the volvo md2b engine , i now find that spares are hard to find and indeed major parts are no longer available. It seems my only hope is to find secondhand spares for this md2b , saying that if any members know of such an outlet to obtain spares or even a complete md2b engine , i would be most grateful. Regards.....John Forster.

Hi John I have a complete Volvo MD2b for sale. It is a runner and would still be in the boat if we hadnt noticed that the engine beds were broken. Last year it took us from Ramsgate to Breskens and back no problems with the engine. Only the exhaust side which was fixed in Breskens. The spare part we obtained was from Belgium and it was the last they had. We would have fixed the problem but I was talked into buying a new Yanmar 3YM $$ If I can be of help to you please let me know Thanks Steve

Roy, what kind of parts do you have and where are you (country, city)? I have an MD2B I would like to get running, but need some injectors and a valve. James

Hi James My engine was running last October I dont really want to break it for spares but if you make me an offer we will let you know The engine is in Ramsgate, Kent UK
Please let me know Steve

Thanks Steve, I was really interested in the parts Roy said he had. Shipping an engine from Europe would probably cost way more than new parts (although that is uncertain considering what they want for new parts). It's actually my parts engine that I would like to get running to see if it is worth rebuilding and the last thing I need is another 500 lb engine. If you decide to part out the engine, let me know. Thanks, James PS it's injectors and a push-rod I'm looking for (not a valve)

I have a MB2B that runs good. I have some problems starting it if the weather is cool. The engine has a hydrolic pump attached in the rear which pulls a large hydrolic motor which turnes the shaft and prop. I have purchased a Yanmar 3QM30 H. I would like to pull the hydrolic pump with the Yanmar. Does anyone have information of the match or know where I might find the matching information?

You will find that most parts are available still. the problem is that most Volvo dealers just wanr to sell you a new engine. However pouring good money after bad can be a bad idea and modern engines are just so much better than these smokey oily old dogs. Suggest you call KEYPART You can find their number on the web. They discount standard Volvo parts substantially and will ship anywhere!

I am looking for throttle and stop linkage with spring etc for md2b Spanish mechanic lost the bits when taking engine out

I kept a Volvo MD21 alive for a while with MD32 parts, many were the same. Then Volvo dropped the MD21 from their spare parts list. So I bought a Yanmar.

I changed the fuel injector pump on my MD2B and now it appears that the throttle linkage does not move the rail on the pump unless the cold start button is pushed in. Of course as soon as the throttle moves the cold start is disengaged and again the throttle linkage does not seem to move the injector pump rail (controller). This is being observed through the inspection cover adjacent to the injector pump. Any thoughts. Have I lost a spring? Tom

If you go to Bluemount, you can download FOC complete Workshop manual. Sounds as if the starting spring has fallen off, this holds the throttle raill open until the governor is rotating to control the engine speed. But I may be wrong
