Thanks for the review Cathy - This looks like a great boat - interesting to hear that heavy weather suits it.

I'm berthed at the Ramparts/Sadler yard on the Itchen and see them taking to the water often. I must say they look great too and the owners i have spoken to seem very happy with the end product (especially when considering the outlay against, say a Bavaria!!). Jerry

We have one at Walton Backwaters and it seems to go exceedingly well for a bilge keeler, probably a perfect boat for those that have to "live" in drying harbours, they also look very tough and well built.

Took mine round the island this year, superb fun. And yes heavy weather does suit them - ask the guy who took his on the Round Britain and Ireland 2 years ago. Had mine 4 years (number 3) and singlehand it everywhere including down to the RTI and back. Did the RTI (with 4 crew) in officially 9h38m but if you factor in our 25min late start due to - wait for it -underestimating how long it would take to get from the Itchen to the start!!! (my fault!!!) our actual elapsed time was 9h13m. We crossed the start 25 mins after our division start (muppet!) but still finished in an overall 407th. An average of about 7.3 kts.

Had a very fast run back up the channel and across the Thames Estuary to Harwich sustaining 8kts and touching 9.2 briefly.

What an impresive boat!

Just a shame though that in usual Jonesy manner he did not get a nice line to the windows which can transform the looks of a boat. We have all got used to the rather boxy shape of modern boats but they can still look nice if they have something to break up the coachroof rather than mismatched rectangular windows.

Agree

Mr Jones gets a lot right but windows is one thing he doesn't do well at all.

I reckon the best of the lot are on the the Dufor 40's they look tidy smart and judging by the way they fitted look to be waterproof in the long term. I wonder why so few boat manufacturers get windows right.
