
Hi Alfred, have you tried experimenting with the rudder control on the autopilot? That can make a big difference. All autopilots are happiest in flat water, but they can be encouraged to co-operate when the going gets a bit tougher! It may be that you could get better results by shortening sail sooner as the wind increases, which would reduce the amount of weather helm, and therefore the tendency to broach. It is worth experimenting with different techniques, which you can do at no expense, before spending money on new kit. Often putting a reef in to make life easier for the autopilot also makes the boat sail flatter and faster, and makes life easier for the crew, too! Happy sailing.
